Polar Express Cast
A computer-animated film based on the 1985 children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg, The Polar Express was directed and co-written by Robert Zemeckis in 2004. Motion capture animation is used to create human characters in the film. The tale tells of a young boy who sees a train bound for the North Pole on Christmas Eve and is invited on board by the conductor. As Santa Claus prepares for Christmas, the boy and several other children travel to see him. Daryl Sabara, Nona Gaye, Jimmy Bennett, and Eddie Deezen play supporting roles alongside Hanks, who also serves as one of the film’s executive producers.
Together with Shangri-La Entertainment, ImageMovers, Playtone, and Golden Mean Productions, Castle Rock Entertainment produced the film for Warner Bros. Pictures, which was Castle Rock’s first animated film. Sony Pictures Imageworks handled the visual effects and performance capture. A record-breaking $165 million production budget was used to create the animated film.
